Poor Website Navigation
Poor navigation is the top consumer complaint about websites.
A recent Harris Interactive survey stated:
- 40% of users experienced problems in purchasing.
- 36% of users experienced error problems or incorrect or confusing information.
- 31% of users had difficulty logging in.
- 29% of users fell into an endless loop.
- 24% of users cited poor search functionality.
- 22% of users cited being kicked off a page automatically.
The survey found that nearly nine of 10 Internet users experienced problems trying to use websites. That figure has remained nearly steady in the three years that Harris has conducted the survey, which captures and analyzes data about website visits.
Of those who reported problems,
- 42% said they abandoned the transaction or went to a competitor
- 53% said they contacted customer service
- 49% said they did not have their problem resolved
- 52% who had a bad experience stopped doing business with that company.
